Mission

Mission:

Oklahoma Policy Institute (OK Policy) is committed to advancing policies aimed at alleviating poverty, promoting fiscal responsibility, and expanding economic opportunity. To that end, OK Policy conducts objective analysis of state policy issues in order to better position Oklahoma to become a more prosperous, better educated, healthier, and increasingly equitable state.

Vision:

Oklahoma Policy Institute (OK Policy) is a forward-thinking organization that analyzes and interprets the long-term consequences of policy decisions. OK Policy’s vision is for Oklahoma to become a more prosperous, healthier, better educated, and increasingly equitable state, whereby:

  • The median income is above the national average;
  • Health outcomes, such as lower infant mortality and higher immunization rates, are among the best in the nation;
  • Our student test scores and college graduation rates exceed the national average; and
  • The gap between the richest and the poorest Oklahomans has narrowed.

OK Policy’s mission recognizes that public services will need to be adequately funded and efficiently administered through an equitable and economically competitive tax system. On policy proposals where OK Policy’s involvement can make a difference, we work to educate policy decision-makers and the public about issues; participate in coalitions engaged in promoting policy change; and conduct direct advocacy.
